Meatcutter Pre-Apprenticeship

About
This course has been designed with you in mind, offering a flexible, engaging, and supportive environment to help you achieve your goals of becoming a union Meatcutter. As mentioned in class, this is a hybrid course. You will learn new content online through this platform, then apply your knowledge during in-class sessions. The goal is to have you gain the knowledge and skills necessary to begin your career as a union Meatcutter and join the Washington State Meatcutter Apprenticeship program. Whether you’re exploring this career for the first time or have been around the industry for years, you will find a wealth of resources, interactive online activities and opportunities to learn from your fellow classmates and Journeyman Meatcutters.
Here’s what you can look forward to:
Engaging Online Content:
You will learn about the topics of personal and workplace safety, primal and retail cuts, cooking, seafood, and customer service.
Interactive Learning
You will participate in hands-on application of meatcutting and apply your new skills through discussions and activities with your peers and the instructor.
Support Every Step of the Way
Your instructor is here to guide and support you as you progress through the course. You will also receive guidance from a veteran resume and interview coach, other Journeyman Meatcutters, and job placement assistance.
